P K T Tiles

If you go down to 234, Annamalai Nagar in Vasthapuram, you’ll find us at P K T Tiles. It’s a modest building, nothing too flashy. We’ve been operating out of this spot for a while now, and the neighbors all know us. Our days are mostly filled with the sound of packing tape and the heavy thud of tile boxes being moved. It’s physical work, and by the end of the day, our backs usually feel it. We don’t have a glossy catalog or a team of salespeople in uniforms. Usually, it’s just me or one of the guys working the floor. We talk to people about what they need for their floors or walls and show them what’s currently in the warehouse. Sometimes we have a lot of one style, and other times we are waiting on a shipment that’s stuck somewhere. That’s just the nature of the business. We don’t pretend to be anything we’re not. We’re just a local business trying to make a living. The shop gets a bit cramped when a new shipment arrives, and we have to shuffle everything around to make room. It’s a bit of a puzzle every time. We see a lot of the same faces, local builders and homeowners who are doing their own renovations. We like being part of the community here in Vasthapuram. It’s a good place to be, even if it gets a bit dusty inside the shop.
