Our office is at No.76/2, Jettikula Street. Namakkal Agri And Livestock Farmers Producer Company Limited is a bit of a long name, but it says what we do. We are basically a group of farmers who came together. We deal with crops and animals. Namakkal is known for its poultry and farms, so it made sense to set up here. On Jettikula Street, it’s mostly quiet except when the members come in to talk. We spend time figuring out how to get better prices for the grain or the livestock. It isn't easy work. Sometimes the rain doesn't come when it should, and other times the market prices drop too low. We try to help each other out with seeds or feed. There are several of us working in the small room we have. We keep the ledgers by hand mostly, though we have a computer now. It's about making sure the small farmers don't get left behind. We talk a lot about goats and chickens and what the soil is doing this season. It's a practical setup. Nothing looks very modern, just some chairs and some stacks of paper. We have meetings once a week where everyone sits around and shares what's happening on their land. It helps to have others to talk to when things get difficult with the livestock. We just keep going. The work never really stops because the farm cycle is constant, and we just manage things from this street.
