Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy Earth Movers is based right here in Velmakanne. The dust gets everywhere when the machines are running, but that is just part of the job. We spend most of our mornings checking the oil and grease before heading out to the fields or construction spots around Munugode. It is hard work under the Nalgonda sun, but that is how it goes. People know the house at 3-84/1, so they just stop by when they need something dug up or moved. We have been doing this for a long time now. The machines aren't always shiny, they have scratches and some rust from the rain, but they do the job. My father used to say that machines are like people, you have to listen to them. Sometimes the ground is too hard, especially in the summer months, and we have to take it slow. We don't have a big office or anything like that. Just the yard and the equipment. When the day ends, we are usually covered in dirt. It’s a quiet life in the village, except for the sound of the engines. We mostly work with folks we’ve known our whole lives around here. There is always something to fix or a new spot that needs clearing out. We don’t make a big fuss about it, just get the keys and go where the work is. That’s how we’ve always done things here in Velmakanne.
