Running Sowjanya Earth Movers out of Peddabanda has its ups and downs. Being in Nalgonda, there is always some construction or digging happening somewhere. We keep our equipment at H. No. 8-3-182 and that's where we do most of the maintenance. It’s a lot of grease and heavy lifting. My brother and I started this because we knew how to handle the machines. It’s not a clean job, you go home covered in dust every single day. We deal with a lot of local builders and people just wanting to clear some land in the district. The machines are old but we keep them running. Sometimes a part breaks and we have to wait for it to come from the city, which is a headache. We don't use any big words to describe what we do. We just dig holes and move dirt where it needs to go. The yard in Gollaguda is usually messy with tracks and piles of stuff. We spend a lot of time on the phone coordinating where the driver needs to be next. It’s loud and it’s hot, especially in the T.S. heat, but the work is steady. We’ve seen the town grow quite a bit since we opened up. We aren't trying to be the biggest company, just trying to finish the job we started today so we can move to the next one tomorrow. It's just how we make our living.
