Hasli Mobile Tiffin Centre

We are based at number 56 in Kdapagandi Tanda, over in Janagam. Since we run a mobile tiffin centre, we are usually on the move or getting things ready very early in the morning. Our day starts long before the sun comes up. We have to get the stoves going and start steaming the idlis and making the chutney. The smell of the tempering and the hot sambar fills up the small space where we work. Our tiffin center isn't a big restaurant with tables and chairs. It’s more of a local spot where people can grab a quick bite and get on with their day. We serve the folks living in the Tanda and anyone else passing through who is hungry for some home-style cooking. The cart or the van we use is old but it gets the job done. We spend a lot of time cleaning the vessels and making sure we have enough firewood or gas for the day. Sometimes it’s a bit chaotic when a lot of people show up at once, all wanting their food fast. We just do our best to keep up with the orders and make sure nobody leaves with an empty stomach. It’s hard work standing on your feet all day in the heat, but we enjoy the talk and the laughter of the people who eat with us. It’s just a simple life of making food for our neighbors and keeping the tradition going.
