Don Bosco Girls College

Don Bosco Girls College is up in the hills near Jeolikot in the Nainital district. To get here, you have to travel through the winding roads of Uttarakhand, which can be quite a task during the rainy season or when it’s very cold. The college is in a place called Aamparo, and it feels very removed from the noise of the big cities. The air is fresh and the views are nice, but for the students and staff, it’s mostly about the daily classes. It is a girls' college, and many of the students stay in the area or travel from nearby hill towns. The buildings are old-fashioned and have a certain character to them. We spend a lot of time making sure the heating works during the winter months because it gets really chilly up here. The classrooms are simple with wooden desks and large windows. Life in Nainital moves slowly, and the same goes for our college routine. We have the usual subjects and the girls are often seen walking together in the corridors or sitting in the library. It’s a quiet place for education. We don't have many shops around, so the college is where everyone spends their whole day. It’s just a normal hill station college where we try to keep things running smoothly despite the weather and the distance from the main town center.
