Mahal is a busy part of Nagpur, and our office on Upadhye Road reflects that energy. We are situated in Old Kothekar Wada, which gives the place a bit of a traditional feel compared to the newer glass buildings popping up elsewhere. It’s a solid structure, which is good because we deal with heavy things all day. Most of our time is spent coordinating with drivers and making sure the Ultratech Cement bags are getting to where they need to go in the city. The noise from the street is constant, but you get used to it after a week or two. We aren't big on ceremony here; the chairs are a bit old, and the tea is usually served in steel glasses. We have our regulars who come in for their supplies, and we know most of them by name. It’s a practical business. We deal with the heat of Nagpur the best we can, especially in May when the sun is relentless. Sometimes the logistics get messy when a truck breaks down or a delivery is late, but we just work through it. Our desks are covered in notebooks and delivery slips because we still like to keep a physical record of things. It feels more real that way. We just focus on getting the cement out to the sites so the masons can do their work. It’s a simple life here in Mahal.
