We’ve been at this spot on Kamptee Road for a while now, right across from where the Kisan Pipe Company is. If you're looking for us, we're at Khasra No. 46, which is pretty close to the railway bridge. You can hear the trains passing by all day long, and it's something you just get used to after a week of working here. The yard itself is usually a bit of a mess with all the loading and unloading, but we know where everything is kept. My cousin helps out with the ledger, though his handwriting isn't the best, so sometimes we have to double-check the figures twice. We mostly deal with folks from Uppalwadi who are building their own houses or just fixing a garden wall. It gets pretty dusty, especially when the wind picks up off the road, and by the end of the day, everything is covered in a thin layer of grit. We don't have a fancy waiting area or anything like that. There’s just an old wooden desk and a few plastic chairs if you need to sit down while we get your order ready. It’s honest work, and we’ve seen the area around the bridge change a lot since we started. There are more shops now than there used to be. We just keep doing our thing, day in and day out. If you miss the turn, it’s a long way to loop back, so keep an eye out for our gate.
