Rst Regional Cancer Hospital is over at Tukdoji Chowk on Manewada Road. It is a big place and quite easy to find if you are in that part of town. Because we deal with cancer, the atmosphere here is usually pretty serious. People come from all over the region to get their treatments. Manewada Road is always packed with traffic, so the noise from the street never really stops. Inside, we just try to keep things organized so patients don't have to wait longer than necessary. It is a tough job sometimes, seeing people when they are going through such a hard time. We have a lot of different wards and rooms to look after. The staff is always on the move, walking back and forth through the hallways. We drink a lot of tea to keep going during the night shifts. It isn't a flashy hospital with modern art on the walls or anything like that. It is a practical building meant for doing a specific job. We see a lot of families waiting in the lobby or sitting outside near the chowk. It’s just a part of the landscape here now. We do the best we can with what we have every single day. The sun comes up over Manewada Road and we start all over again. It’s a lot of responsibility, but it’s what we do. No one likes being in a hospital, so we just get on with it.
