Rastra Sanskriti Sociology Regional Cancer Hospital

The name of this place is a bit of a mouthful, but we just call it the hospital. We are located right at Punkdog Square. It’s a busy area and the noise from the square stays with us all day long. Dealing with cancer is a heavy thing, so we try to keep the atmosphere inside as calm as we can, even if the building is getting old. The corridors are long and sometimes the lights flicker a bit in the back hallway. We have staff who have been here for a long time, drinking their tea in the small breakroom between seeing patients. It is a regional spot, so we get people coming in from quite far away, not just the local streets. They arrive with their families and wait on the wooden benches for their turn. We don’t have any of that polished, corporate feel you see in the big city hospitals. Things are a bit more practical here. We deal with the schedules the best we can, though sometimes things get delayed if a doctor is held up. It’s a place where real work happens every single day. We see a lot of different people and hear a lot of stories. The desks are piled with files and the storage rooms are full of medical supplies. We just keep the doors open and do what needs doing for everyone who walks through Punkdog Square to find us.
