Gujarat Ambuja Cement

We are based out of G-148 in the Ambuja Colony, which is in Upparwahi, over in the Chandrapur district of Maharashtra. It’s a bit of a trek to get out here if you aren't used to the area, but it’s where the heart of the work happens. Being in the colony means we are right next to the people we work with every day. It’s a tight-knit community here. The cement business is a heavy one, and living and working in the same area makes things a bit simpler. Our office is just a regular building in the colony. It’s not flashy at all. We have our files, some chairs that have seen better days, and a lot of talk about production numbers and shipping schedules. Chandrapur is known for being one of the hottest places around, so we spend a lot of time trying to stay cool while we work. You’ll see a lot of dust from the operations, but that’s just part of living near a cement plant. We don't spend much time on fancy presentations. Mostly, we are just making sure the cement gets loaded and the workers have what they need. It’s a practical life. We see the same faces at the local shops and everyone knows what everyone else does. We just try to do our part without making a scene. It’s a lot of manual coordination and making sure the trucks don't get stuck in the mud when it rains.
