Ameya Rubber

We are tucked inside the Dalal Building on Munshi Temple Lane. It’s an old part of the Mahal area, right near Killa Road. If you walk past the Munshi Temple, you can’t miss the lane. Our space is quite compact, filled with rolls of rubber and a few heavy-duty machines that have been with us for years. Ameya Rubber is really just a small group of people who know how to work with these materials. The building itself is old, with narrow stairs and thick walls that stay surprisingly cool even in the middle of summer. It’s a busy neighborhood with plenty of small shops and people walking by all day long. We don't have a big sign or any flashy lights outside. Mostly, people just know us by word of mouth. We spend most of our hours measuring, cutting, and making sure the rubber pieces are the right size for the local buyers. Sometimes the lane gets blocked by a delivery rickshaw, and we all have to go out and help move things. It’s just the way things are in this part of town. We don't follow any corporate manuals or wear uniforms. We just learned the trade from the people who were here before us. It’s a bit messy, and there’s always something to sweep up at the end of the day. We stay until the work is finished, then lock up the heavy iron shutters.
