Raj Public Senior Secondary School

Up here on Manglana Road, we see a lot of heavy trucks passing by heading into Makrana all day long. Our school is a big part of the local community here in Nagaur. We deal with the older senior students mostly, so things are usually a bit more serious than at the primary schools down the road. The kids are always worried about their futures and their upcoming board exams. We have classrooms that get plenty of natural light during the day. The staff room is always full of half-empty tea cups and big stacks of papers that need grading. It’s a busy life for the teachers. We don't have much of a garden to speak of, just a large paved area where the students gather in the mornings. In the winter, everyone tries to stand in the sunny spots to stay warm. We have a few computers in the back room but mostly it’s just textbooks and blue pens. Makrana is famous for its stone, and you can see that in some of the older buildings around this area. The kids walk here or come on their cycles. Some of them come from quite far away and look tired when they arrive. We know most of their parents and their older siblings who went to school here before them. It’s a long day for everyone. By the time the final bell rings at three, we are all ready to head home and rest for tomorrow.
