Samuthra Exim

Our location is at 2/367 Main Road in Serudhur, right in the Velankanni area. Being on the main road means we see a lot of people passing through, especially during the pilgrimage seasons. The office is close to the coast, so you can sometimes smell the salt in the air when the wind blows the right way. We have a small building where we handle the export business. It’s mostly about managing the logistics and making sure the products are ready for the sea journey. We have a big table in the middle of the room where we spread out the charts and schedules. It gets a bit hectic when several orders are due at the same time. We have a couple of computers that we use for the customs filings and stuff like that. The walls are decorated with some old calendars and a few photos. It’s a lived-in space, not a showroom. Sometimes the tourists stop by thinking we sell souvenirs, and we have to tell them we just do exports. We have a small team from the local village who help us out with the daily chores. It’s a good community to be a part of. We just focus on getting the crates packed and the paperwork signed so everything stays on schedule. It is hard work but we are used to it and just take things one day at a time.
