Fairways Cement

Out here in Sembodai, Vedaraniam, life feels a bit different than in the big cities. Fairways Cement is located at number 5, and it’s a place where we mostly know everyone who walks through the door. It’s not a huge operation with hundreds of employees. Usually, it’s just a couple of us handling the orders and making sure the storage stays dry. That’s the biggest challenge around here, keeping everything away from the damp air. The shop is simple and functional. We have a few chairs for when people want to sit and talk for a bit before they buy anything. Sometimes they just stop by to complain about the rain or talk about the local news. We don't have a website or any of those modern things. Most people find us because they saw the sign or heard about us from a neighbor. The floor is concrete and easy to sweep, which we do every morning before the first person arrives. It's a quiet kind of work most of the time. We load the bags ourselves when someone comes with a cart or a small truck. It keeps us moving. You won't find any shiny brochures here or people in suits. We wear clothes that we don't mind getting dirty. It’s honest work and we do it day after day without much fuss. We're just a small part of the community here in Sembodai.
