Umiya Shankar Rice Mill is right in the middle of the Bazar in Umiyapura. We are at number 16 in Nadiad. Being in the bazar means it is always noisy and there are people everywhere. It is a great location for a business like ours because we are right where the action is. The mill is an older building, and you can tell it has a lot of history just by looking at the walls. We have been processing rice here for a long time. The space inside is quite tight because we have to fit all the machinery and the storage bins into a building that was built years ago. We handle a lot of local rice varieties. The guys working here are usually covered in a bit of dust by the end of the day, but that is part of the trade. We don't have a fancy showroom. If you want to see what we have, you just walk into the main area and look at the open sacks. Nadiad is a busy place, and we are just one small part of the economy here. We focus on getting the milling done efficiently so we can clear out the space for the next batch. It is a constant cycle of bringing grain in and sending it back out to the shopkeepers in the bazar. We don't do anything too complicated, just stick to what we know. Most days are long and tiring, but we manage to get everything done before we close up for the night.
