Sunrise Apparel

Sunrise Apparel is tucked away in Nadia, and it’s been a part of my life for a long time. We aren't one of those massive factories you see on the news. It’s more of a local setup where we focus on getting the stitching right. I started this because I saw how much people in Nadia needed good, affordable clothes that didn't fall apart after two washes. We handle all sorts of fabrics throughout the week. Some days it’s cotton, other days it’s something heavier. The sound of the sewing machines is like background music to me now. I can tell if a machine is acting up just by the rhythm it makes. The staff here are mostly people from the surrounding villages who have been with us for years. We aren't trying to be a global brand or anything like that. We just want to make sure that when someone buys a shirt or a pair of trousers from us, they feel they got their money's worth. Nadia is a place where people appreciate honest work. Our workspace is filled with rolls of cloth and piles of finished garments waiting to be packed. It gets a bit crowded sometimes, but that’s a sign that we have work to do. I usually spend my mornings checking the quality of the seams and my afternoons talking to suppliers about thread and buttons. It’s just plain, simple work that we do every day.
