Down in Lalpur Purbayan, in the Chakdaha area of Nadia, you’ll find our little apparel setup. It’s a place filled with the sound of sewing machines and the smell of fresh fabric. We spend our days cutting cloth, stitching patterns, and making sure the clothes look right. It’s not a big factory with hundreds of workers. It’s a much smaller operation where we pay attention to each piece we make. We have rolls of different materials stacked up against the walls, and there’s always thread on the floor no matter how much we sweep. People from around the district know us for the work we do. We don't have a fancy boutique or a glossy catalog to show off. Most of our orders come from local shops or people who have heard about us from their friends. We work hard to keep up with the demand, especially during the festival seasons when everyone wants something new to wear. The weather in Nadia can get quite humid, which makes working with heavy fabrics a bit of a challenge sometimes, but we get through it. We’ve been part of this community for a long time and we like seeing people walking around wearing the things we’ve made. It’s a simple business of needles and thread, but it’s what keeps us going every day. We just focus on the craft and the cloth.
