St.Marys English School

If you look for St.Marys English School, you’ll find us right on the St Philomena Church Campus. We are on Ashoka Road in Lashkar Mohalla, Mysore. It’s an old part of the city and there’s always a lot of activity on the streets outside. Being near the church means we hear the bells and there’s a certain feel to the campus that’s been there for years. The school building itself has seen better days but it’s sturdy and does the job. We have students coming in from all over the Lashkar Mohalla area. The classrooms are filled with the usual desks and the sound of chalk on boards. We don't really go for anything modern or high-tech if we can help it. It’s more about the basic way of teaching that’s always worked. The staff rooms are usually crowded with books and old files. We spend a lot of time talking about the kids and how they are doing with their English lessons. It’s not a quiet place, especially when the classes change over. You can see the church spires from some of the windows. People know us because we’ve been on Ashoka Road forever. We just keep to our routine, opening up in the morning and seeing the kids off in the afternoon. There isn’t much more to it than that. We just provide a place for school and try to keep things moving along steadily.
