New Hair Dress

This shop is on Hunsur Main Road in Yelwal. We are right near the police station, so it is hard to miss New Hair Dress if you are driving by. I have been cutting hair here for quite some time. It's a simple place for a haircut or a shave. We don't have any of those fancy chairs that massage you, just the regular ones that work fine. Mysore is a beautiful city, and Yelwal is a busy part of it. I see a lot of people traveling along the main road. Some stop in for a quick trim before heading into the city. I keep the floor swept, though hair gets everywhere by midday. It’s just me and the mirror most days. I like the sound of the scissors. It’s a quiet life but I meet many different people. Some tell stories about their farms or their jobs in the city. I just listen and keep cutting. I don't use any expensive shampoos, just the stuff that works. The shop is small, but it's mine. I open the shutters every morning and stay until the sun goes down. If the lights are on, I'm probably inside. No need to call ahead, just walk in and wait your turn. Sometimes there's a wait, especially on Sundays. It's a local business, nothing more. The weather in Mysore is usually good, so I keep the door open for a breeze. The traffic on Hunsur road can be loud, but you get used to it. I've been in this spot for years now.
