Down in Mysore, near Manandavadi Road, you will find us at Srirampura. Gnanajyothi Organic Farmers Producer Company Limited is basically a group of people from the nearby villages who decided to work together. Being at Sy No 135/2 means we are close to the fields and the farmers can drop by whenever they need to talk. It is not a quiet office. There is always someone coming in with news about the rain or how the crops are doing this season. We spend our mornings talking to the growers and the afternoons trying to figure out where all the produce should go. It gets quite dusty here when the wind picks up, but that is just how it is. We aren't doing this to get famous or anything. We just saw that farmers were struggling to get a fair deal on their own. By coming together in Srirampura, we have a bit more strength. We have a lot of meetings under the trees or in the small office space we have. It is mostly about hard work and staying honest with each other. Sometimes things don't go as planned, like when the transport fails or a crop gets ruined, but we just keep going. This is real life for us, and we are just trying to make a living for the community. Every day we see the sun come up over the fields and start again.
