Usha Concrete Bricks

Our small operation, Usha Concrete Bricks, is located in Ward No. 13 of Dariyapur Village. We are in the Amour area of Purnia, which is not far at all from the Amour Police Station. Being in a village means things move a bit slower than they do in the city, which suits us just fine. We set up this yard to make concrete bricks for the local houses being built around this part of Purnia. It is mostly outdoor work we do here. We have a couple of machines that do the pressing, and then we lay the bricks out in rows to dry under the sun. If it looks like it might rain, we have to run out and cover everything with big plastic sheets. My family helps out with most of the work. We know almost everyone in Dariyapur, so most of our customers are just our neighbors or people from the villages nearby. The police station is a good landmark because it’s the biggest building around here. We don’t have a fancy office, just a small wooden desk under a tin roof where we keep our receipts and a pen. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait a while to start the machines again, so we just sit and have some tea. It is honest work and it keeps us busy. We take pride in the bricks we make here and see them in walls.
