Sita Ram Iron Stores

Sita Ram Iron Stores is located in the Central Bank Building over in K B P Pupri, right in Janakpur Road Village. We deal with a lot of heavy iron goods, so the ground floor is always a bit of a mess with scraps and metal pieces. Being in the same building as the bank makes it easy for people to find us, as everyone knows where the Central Bank is. The village atmosphere is quite relaxed, although the work we do is physically demanding. We spend a lot of time moving iron rods and plates around, and it definitely keeps you in shape. The air inside the store always has that metallic smell that stays with you even after you go home. We have an old desk where the ledger stays, and it is covered in coffee stains and dust. Most of our customers are farmers or local builders from the surrounding villages who need supplies for their sheds or houses. We don't have a computer system, so everything is written down by hand in big registers. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a few hours, but we just keep working by the light from the doorway. It’s a simple business that has been around for a long time. We don't bother with fancy displays or advertisements because people know they can just walk in and talk to us. It’s honest work and it keeps the community building.
