Down on Mithan Sarai Road in Kolhua Paigambarpur, you will find Best India Steel Works. It is a noisy place, mostly because working with steel involves a lot of cutting and banging. Muzaffarpur can get incredibly hot, and when you are around metal all day, you really feel the temperature rise. We have a crew of guys who are used to the hard work. The floor is usually covered in metal shavings and bits of scrap, no matter how much we sweep it. We handle a lot of different types of steel projects for people in the surrounding area. It is a very hands-on business. I spend half my time on the phone and the other half helping out with the heavy lifting. We don’t have a fancy website or anything like that; people usually just hear about us from someone else or see our sign when they are driving down the road. The machinery we use is old but it still works fine for what we need. Sometimes we have to stop work because of power cuts, which is just part of living in this part of town. We just sit outside and wait for the lights to come back on. It is honest work, and it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. The work clothes we wear are always stained with grease and dust.
