Vishal Marbles

Started working out of Sri Kalidas Building in Santacruz East quite a while back now. It is a busy spot. You see a lot of people coming in and out of the area all day long. When you deal with marble and stone, things get pretty dusty and the floor is usually covered in a thin layer of white powder. It is just how it goes when you are cutting or moving heavy slabs around. The building itself is easy enough to find if you know the landmark, but the traffic around Santacruz can be a bit of a headache during the afternoon hours. We spend most of our time organizing the stock and making sure the pieces are handled right so they don't chip. It is heavy work. My back usually aches by five o'clock. We have got some decent space here on the ground floor which makes loading the trucks a bit easier than if we were tucked away in a narrow lane. People from the neighborhood stop by to ask about different types of stone or just to see what we have got in the yard. Sometimes the monsoon rain makes things a bit messy, but we keep the slabs covered as much as we can. It is a simple setup really, just a lot of stone and a lot of manual labor to keep everything moving. We have been in this part of town for a long time and seen the buildings around us change quite a bit over the years.
