Our shop is located on Versova Beach Road, specifically in the Pranashish building at B 37. You can usually smell the salt in the sea air from our front door, especially when the wind is blowing the right way. We deal with ceramics, which means mostly floor tiles and some stuff for bathrooms. It is a nice area to work in, though it gets very crowded on the weekends with people heading down to the beach. We usually have a few wooden crates sitting out on the sidewalk if a new shipment just arrived that morning. Inside, the shop is a bit of a maze with all the different displays we’ve set up. We don't have any fancy lighting, just the regular tubes on the ceiling. We show people the different patterns and tell them which ones are sturdier for high-traffic floors. A lot of the local residents come in when they are fixing up their flats nearby. We have seen a lot of changes in the Versova area over the years. There are way more cafes now and fewer open spaces than before. Our floor is always a bit gritty from the sand that blows in from the road. We spend a lot of time checking our inventory against the paper invoices. Sometimes the colors don't quite match the photos, so we have to explain that to the people buying them. It’s just how it is with ceramic products and firing.
