You can find Rakesh Marble @ Granites right by the Vakola Bridge on Nehru Road. Santacruz East is a hectic area, and our yard is right there in the thick of it. We deal in all sorts of marble and granite slabs. When you walk in, you’ll see rows of stone leaning against each other. It’s often a bit wet on the floor because we have to wash the dust off the slabs so people can see the natural patterns. We aren't a high-end boutique with air conditioning. It’s more of a practical yard where we move heavy stone all day long. The noise from the bridge and the traffic on Nehru Road is something we have just stopped noticing after all these years. Customers usually come in with their tape measures and a rough idea of what they want. We just show them what we’ve got in stock at the moment. Some days we have a lot of variety, and other days it’s mostly the popular stuff. We don’t do any fancy marketing. People see the sign from the road or hear about us from their builders. It is a straightforward operation. We sell the stone, help get it loaded, and that’s about it. It’s been our daily routine for a long time. We don’t really change much about how we do things, as long as the stone is good and the customers are satisfied with what they pick.
