Universal Grani Marmo

If you find yourself at the Rajput Marble Market in Malad West, you will see our spot at Plot N.29. We go by Universal Grani Marmo. Being near the Gulfam Hotel makes it easy for people to find us on Marv Road. This whole area is always full of stone and marble. We have slabs leaning against the walls everywhere you look. It is a bit of a maze sometimes. We deal with granite and marble mostly. People come in from all over Mumbai looking for something for their floors or new kitchen counters. We show them the different colors and the veins in the marble pieces. Some of these stones are really heavy and need a few guys to move them around safely. We spend a lot of time just moving things so a customer can see a specific piece in the light. It is tiring work. The sun hits the yard hard in the afternoon. We have a small office where we keep the records, but mostly we are outside. The traffic on Marv Road is always a mess, so we tell people to come early if they can. We have seen the market change over the years, but the stone is still the same. It takes a long time to learn which stones are which just by looking at them. We just try to give people what they are looking for without making it a big deal. It is just us here, working with the stone and trying to get through the day's tasks. No fancy talk, just marble and granite in the middle of Malad. We have some samples that have been sitting in the corner for years, just collecting dust.
