United Marble

Down in Govandi, specifically in the Baiganwadi area, you will find United Marble. We are located on Road Number 11 at Plot No. 13/K/3. The Lotus Colony is just a short walk away from our front gate. This part of the city is very industrial and always busy with workers. We deal with large slabs of marble and natural stone that come in on the big trucks. The sound of the saws cutting through the heavy stone is something you get used to after a few days of working here. We use a lot of water to keep the cutting blades cool, so the ground in the yard is almost always wet and a little muddy. It is a heavy business to be in. Moving these marble slabs requires a lot of care and a couple of strong pairs of hands so nothing cracks. We spend our days showing customers the different natural patterns and colors in the stone. No two pieces are ever exactly the same, which is the most interesting part of the job to me. The air is thick with the smell of wet stone and the sound of machinery. It is a gritty place to work, but there is a certain rhythm to the day that I like. People from all over the Govandi area come to look for something for their floors. We just let the stone speak for itself and try to stay busy.
