Our place, Trident Marble Pvt. Ltd., is situated on the dervice road right by the airport. We are quite close to the Laxmi Narayan Temple, which is a good landmark if you are trying to find us off the Western Express Highway. Being in Ville Parle East means we are right in the middle of a lot of action. The sound of planes taking off and the constant roar of traffic from the highway is something we just live with now. We have a lot of marble and stone kept here. It’s a large area because those heavy slabs take up a lot of room. The office is just a small section where we keep the records and talk to customers who come in to see the stock. It’s often quite dusty because of the road and the stone-cutting we do, so we are always wiping down the desks and the samples. We aren't a fancy showroom with a receptionist in a suit. Most of us are in dusty clothes because we’ve been moving slabs around all morning. We started this business because we know stones, and we’ve been doing it for years. It’s a straightforward operation. We show people what we have, tell them the price, and arrange for the delivery. It is a lot of heavy lifting and long hours, but we like the location and the people we meet every day. There is no corporate polish here, just stone and work.
