Tabish Sheikh

I’ve been working here at Bombay Furnishing Company for a good while now. Tabish Sheikh is the name on the business license, and we mostly just focus on getting things done for the people who walk in. It’s not a big fancy place, just a regular shop where we handle various furnishing tasks. Some days are busier than others, especially when a lot of orders come in at once. We spend most of our time dealing with fabrics and measurements, making sure stuff actually fits where it’s supposed to go. People from around the neighborhood know us, and we try to keep things straightforward. There’s always a lot of dust from the materials, but that’s just part of the job. We don’t really do much advertising or anything like that. Most of our work comes from word of mouth or people just seeing the shop while they’re out. It gets a bit crowded inside with all the rolls of cloth and the tools we use. We usually start early in the morning and stay until the work for the day is finished. Sometimes the tea guy comes by and we take a quick break, but then it’s back to the sewing or the cutting. It’s hard work, but it keeps us busy. We don’t have any big corporate plans, just keeping the shop running and making sure the customers get what they asked for without too much fuss. That is basically how we operate every single day here.
