Super Sandwich Stall

Being in Powai, things move pretty fast around here. Super Sandwich Stall is just a small setup, nothing like those big restaurants with air conditioning. We have our table and the sandwich toasters lined up. The bread comes in every day in big plastic bags. We spend most of our time slicing tomatoes and cucumbers and making sure the green chutney hasn't run out. Sometimes the line gets long during the lunch hour and people get a bit impatient, but we move as fast as we can. My hands are usually stained a bit green from the herbs. We use a lot of butter, which makes the floor a little slippery if we aren't careful with the cleaning. There is no real inside area, so everyone just stands around on the pavement or leans against their scooters while they eat. It gets dusty because of the construction nearby but we keep the food covered up as much as possible. The toaster makes a loud clicking sound when it’s done. We've thought about getting a new one but this one still works fine. Most of our customers are students or people working in the nearby buildings. They know us by name and we know what they usually order without them even saying it. It's a simple way to make a living and we have been doing it for a while now.
