Suhas Marble

We've been here at Shop No. 5 in the Prakash Building for quite a while now. It’s right on R.B. Mehta Marg in Ghatkopar East, which stays pretty busy most of the day. If you know this part of the city, you know how it gets with the traffic and the noise. The shop is filled with different slabs and pieces of marble. We spend most of our mornings moving things around and cleaning off the dust that settles from the road outside. It is not a fancy place, just a regular shop where we keep the stock for anyone who needs stone. Sometimes people stop by just to ask for directions since we are in such a visible spot. We handle all the heavy lifting ourselves. The floors are usually covered in a bit of white powder from the stone cutting, but that is just how it is when you work with marble every day. My brother and I usually handle the customers who walk in from the street. We don’t have any big flashy signs, just the name Suhas Marble on the front. We’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit over the years, new shops opening and closing, but we stay right here. It’s a lot of work, especially when a big shipment comes in and we have to organize everything in this space. We just keep at it, day in and day out, making sure things are where they need to be.
