Solanki Stones & Marble

We are located at Plot No- 8/9 in Lalwani Bhawan, right across from Kasturba Hospital on Sane Guruji Marg. It is a well-known spot because of the hospital, so we see a lot of people passing by every day. Solanki Stones & Marble is basically a big open space filled with slabs of all kinds. We have some marble and various types of stone for building work. The slabs are heavy and cold to the touch in the mornings. We spend our time checking the edges for chips and making sure everything is stacked safely on the metal frames. It’s not the cleanest job you could have. There is always some water on the floor from when we wash down the stones to show the color and pattern to a customer. The noise from Sane Guruji Marg is pretty much constant, with ambulances and cars going by all the time. Our office is just a small corner with a couple of plastic chairs and a desk where we handle the paperwork. We don't use any fancy computer systems; we mostly just write everything down in books. People come in with their architects or sometimes just on their own. We let them walk around and look at the different patterns in the stone for as long as they need. It takes time for people to choose the right look, so we just let them be. We have been doing this for quite a while now. It is just a regular stone yard in a busy part of the city.
