Shree Ashapura Marbles

Our place is right on L B S Marg in Kurla West, tucked in near Maharashtra Kata and right opposite the Sion Goods Yard. It’s a very busy part of Mumbai. There is always noise from the trucks and the trains nearby. We deal mostly in marble. The slabs come in and we stack them up as best as we can in the space we have. It’s cramped sometimes because land is tight here. When a customer comes, we have to shuffle things around to show them the variety. You get a lot of dust from the road and the yard, so we are always splashing water on the stones to show the real color and shine underneath. People come from all over the city because this area is a hub for building materials. We see contractors, architects, and just regular families trying to pick a floor. It’s a lot of standing around and talking about square footage. We don't have any fancy sales pitch. We just show what we have on the lot that day. If we don’t have it, we tell them. The goods yard across the way is always active, which makes for a hectic atmosphere. Sometimes the traffic on L B S Marg makes deliveries a nightmare, but we manage. We’ve been in this spot for years. It’s just a regular marble godown where we work hard and try to get the pieces moved out to the customers.
