Our place is in Kandivali West, specifically over at the 3rd Stage in the 4th Block near Havanoor Circle. We’re in Building 88, on the first floor. It’s easy to find us because you can usually smell the spices before you even reach the stairs. We make pickles. It’s a family kind of thing that turned into a business. The kitchen area takes up most of the space, and the rest is just for storing jars. We’ve got big jars of mangoes and lemons soaking in oil and spices everywhere. It’s a lot of chopping and mixing by hand. We don't use big automated machines for everything because it doesn’t taste the same. Our floor is always a bit sticky no matter how much we wash it. We’ve been at this location for a good while. The neighbors sometimes complain about the smell of chili, but most of them just come by to buy a jar. We don’t have a fancy label or a big sales team. We just sell what we make. Sometimes we run out of a certain kind because the fruit wasn't good that season. We only make what’s fresh. It’s a lot of work, especially when the weather is humid and we have to be careful about the jars. We just keep at it every day. It’s what we know how to do. The sun hits the front window in the afternoon, making it a bit warm. We just open a window and keep going.
