Shahensha Ibrahim Shaikh

I run my business out of Dharavi, specifically on the Cross Road in Mahim East at R 1. If you know this area, you know how tightly packed everything is. Shahensha Ibrahim Shaikh is just the name on my documents, but really it is just me and a couple of helpers doing the daily grind. We work in a small space where every inch counts. We handle various goods and local trading tasks that come our way. It’s often very hot inside, so we keep the door open to catch whatever breeze comes through the narrow lane. There is always noise outside—kids playing, motorbikes zipping past, and people talking. My workspace is a bit cluttered with samples and ledgers, but I know where everything is. We don't have a website or a big office with air conditioning. We just do our work, talk to our suppliers, and make sure our customers are satisfied with what we provide. It’s the kind of life where you work long hours and drink a lot of cutting chai to stay alert. Dharavi is a place where everyone is doing something to get by, and I am no different. We just try to be honest in our dealings and keep the business running as best as we can in this busy part of the city.
