Our office is tucked away in Karamchand Mansion on Barrack Road. If you know the area behind Metro Cinema, you know how crowded it can get with all the traffic and people moving around. Being in an old building like this has its quirks, like the narrow hallways and the way the light hits the stone samples in the afternoon. We handle a lot of granite here. There are slabs stacked up and heavy pieces everywhere you look. It’s not a quiet job, that’s for sure. Most of us have been working with stone for years, so we don't mind the grit. We spend our mornings checking the inventory and talking to the guys at the yard. The phone rings a lot with people asking about prices or when their delivery is coming. We try to keep things organized but sometimes the paperwork piles up on the desks. It’s a bit of a squeeze in the office when a few customers show up at once. You can hear the sounds from the street all day long, but inside we’re just focused on the slabs. It’s solid work, literally. We don’t go for any flashy displays, we just show people the real rock and let them decide. It's just a regular business day for us, making sure the stone gets where it’s supposed to be without any cracks. We keep some tea ready for whoever drops by to talk business.
