Sanjay Sandwich

Working on Mahatma Gandhi Road in Fort is quite something. It is always loud and crowded with people going to their offices or tourists walking around looking at the old buildings. Sanjay Sandwich has been sitting here for a long time. It’s not a big fancy restaurant with air conditioning, just a spot where we make food for people who are in a hurry. I usually start the day by getting all the vegetables ready. Cutting tomatoes and onions takes up a lot of my morning. Sometimes the bread delivery is late and I get a bit worried, but it usually works out. The sun hits this side of the street pretty hard in the afternoon, so we try to stay in the shade. It’s just me and a couple of other guys working here. We know most of the office workers who come by every afternoon. They don’t say much, just want their lunch so they can get back to work. We don't have a big menu, just the things people like to eat. The traffic on MG Road never really stops, so you get used to the sound of horns. It’s a busy life, but I like being in the middle of everything. Sometimes we run out of things before the day ends, and we just have to tell people to come back tomorrow. That's just how a small business works in this part of town.
