You can find us on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Road at number 175, right in the second lane of the vegetable section. It is a very lively place to be, especially around five or six in the morning when the trucks start arriving. We spend the first few hours of the day unloading crates of different vegetables and getting them set up so people can see what we have. There is always a lot of water on the floor to keep things cool, and the smell of fresh greens is pretty strong. It is not a fancy shop by any means, just a space with lots of wooden bins and scales for weighing everything out. We have been in this lane for quite some time now, so we know most of the people who come by to do their daily shopping. The noise in the market is constant, with people bargaining and vendors calling out their prices, but you get used to it. We try to keep everything moving so the produce doesn't sit around too long. By the afternoon, things start to slow down a little, and we spend time cleaning up and getting ready for the next day. It is hard work, mostly standing on your feet and lifting heavy bags, but it is what we do. We just focus on having a good variety of stuff available for whoever walks through the lane in the morning.
