Ramnath Damodar Sandwich

Ramnath Damodar Sandwich is situated in Lower Parel East, specifically at 12th C Main, 6th Block 1/197. This area is full of people rushing to work. We have a small stall setup. It’s not a restaurant with waiters. I spend most of my time standing behind the wooden board with a knife in my hand. Chopping cucumbers, tomatoes, and onions is what I do all day. The bread comes fresh every morning in big crates. We go through a lot of butter and chutney. The green chutney is something we make ourselves every single day. It’s a bit spicy because that’s how people around here like it. Sometimes the line gets long and people start getting impatient, so we have to work faster. My hands move pretty quick now after doing this for so many years. The 6th Block is a busy place, and we are right in the thick of it. We have a small umbrella for when it rains, but otherwise, we are just out there. We don't have a printed menu, just a board with the prices. It’s simple food. We don't use fancy gadgets, just a hand toaster and a sharp knife. When the day is over, we pack everything up and wash the boards. It’s a lot of work for a sandwich, but it’s what we do. Lower Parel East is home for us now.
