We are up here on the first floor of the Siddhi building, right near the Adarsha Hotel in Kalbadevi. Most days it’s pretty loud outside because of the traffic and people shouting, but inside Room 201, we just get on with it. My father started things here years ago and not much has changed in this part of town except the shops next door. We keep the books in the old cabinets and the fan makes a bit of a clicking noise when it's on high speed. Usually, we're here by ten in the morning after dealing with the train crowd. It’s a tight space but we know where everything is kept. If someone comes to visit, they usually get lost looking for the entrance because the sign is a bit small. We often grab tea from the stall downstairs and drink it while looking over the daily paperwork. It’s not a fancy office with big glass windows or anything like that. We just have our desks, some chairs for when people drop by, and a lot of files that have been sitting there for a while. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit in the afternoon, so we just sit and wait or talk about the cricket score. It's just a regular place where work happens every day without too much fuss. We’ve been in Kalbadevi so long that the neighbors are all like family now. That’s just how it is here for Rajendra Kumar Kantilal.
