This setup for T.Y.B.Com is right in the middle of Bandra East, over at M.H.B. Colony. We operate out of building number 16, specifically room 703. If you know the Nirmal area, you know it’s always got something going on. Being on the seventh floor means we get a bit of a breeze sometimes, which is nice during the hotter months in Mumbai. Most of the time, it’s just us surrounded by books and notes related to the commerce curriculum. It is not a grand institution or anything like that. It’s more of a practical space where people come to get their head down and study or sort out academic stuff. The elevator in the building works most of the time, but we’ve all had to take the stairs once or twice when the power goes. The walls are a bit thin, so you can hear the neighbors occasionally. We’ve pinned up a few schedules on the walls and there is always a stray pen rolling around somewhere. It’s a functional space. We don’t have a big reception desk or shiny signs. You just walk in, find a spot, and get to work. Bandra East has its own rhythm, and we’re just a small part of that 400051 postcode. It is simple, a bit cramped maybe, but it’s where the work happens for us every single day without much fuss or bother.
