Pratik Marble

It gets very dusty here at our place in Vile Parle East. We are located on N S Road, right in the Juhu Scheme area. If you’re driving on the Western Express Highway, you’ll see us opposite the domestic airport. The noise from the planes taking off is something we just got used to. We have big slabs of marble leaning against the walls. Some are white, some have grey veins, and others are darker. It’s heavy stuff. We spend a lot of time moving these pieces around so people can see the patterns. Water is always on the floor because we have to wet the stone to show the true color. The workers are always wearing boots because of the slush. It’s not a clean job, but the marble looks nice once it’s polished and installed in someone’s house. Most people come in with measurements written on scraps of paper. We talk about thickness and how the edges should be cut. We aren't a fancy showroom with air conditioning. It’s an open space where you can see the raw material. Sometimes the traffic on the highway is so bad that customers arrive late and frustrated. We just give them a seat and let them look at the stone. It takes a long time to pick the right piece for a kitchen or a floor. We just stay here until the sun goes down and the highway lights come on for the night.
