Payal Optics

At Payal Optics in Ghatkopar East 3, things are pretty straightforward. We have been in this spot for quite a while, looking out at the same street every day. The shop is not very large, so we have to be careful about where we put everything. We have racks of frames along the walls and a small area in the back where we do the eye tests. It has got that specific smell of an optical shop, a bit like cleaning fluid and plastic. Most of the people who come in are from the nearby buildings. They might have broken their glasses or they just need a new prescription because things are getting blurry for them. We spend a lot of time adjusting the little nose pads on frames or tightening tiny screws that have come loose. It is fiddly work, but it fills the day. The lighting inside is bright so people can see the frames clearly in the mirrors. We have a couple of stools for people to sit on while they wait. On rainy days, the floor gets a bit muddy from people coming in off the street, so we are always mopping it up. It is just a normal shop doing normal things for the people living in Ghatkopar. We do not try to be anything else besides a local place for glasses. Most of our day is spent cleaning lenses and checking stock.
