Andheri Kurla Road is always moving. If you’ve been to the Jafferbhay Industrial Estate, you know it’s a busy spot. We are in Gala No. 202, right near Mard Naka. At Oreva Granitile Pvt. Ltd., we spend most of our time dealing with tiles and granite. It’s a lot of weight to move around every day. The industrial estate is a mix of all kinds of businesses. You hear the noise of the traffic from the main road all the time. Our space is functional, meant for storage and showing the samples. It gets pretty warm in the afternoons, so we usually have a fan going. We don’t really do any fancy advertising. People just know where to find us in the estate. We spend a lot of time on the phone with suppliers or checking the inventory. The floor is usually covered with a bit of stone dust. It’s a very normal, everyday business. We talk to the loaders and the drivers more than anyone else. Sometimes the elevator in the building is slow, so we have to wait. It’s just one of those things about working in an older industrial building in Mumbai. We stay focused on the granite and making sure the orders are right. It’s a busy life but we’re used to it by now. There isn't much to see other than stacks of stone and a few tired faces working hard.
