Om Moorti Arts

We are located at Shop No. 5 on Subway Road. It’s right near the Milan Subway in Vile Parle East. If you’ve ever been stuck in the traffic there, you’ve probably seen our sign. Om Moorti Arts is a small place but we pack a lot into it. We make all sorts of statues and idols. Mumbai is a fast city, but making a moorti takes time. You can’t rush the clay or the paint. Sometimes the shop feels very small when we have a big project going on. There are brushes and paints everywhere. We get a lot of noise from the trains and the cars going through the subway, but you stop hearing it after a while. It’s just background noise to us now. We’ve been in Vile Parle for a long time. People stop by on their way home from work just to see what’s new. We don’t have a big marketing plan. We just put our work out front and hope people like it. It’s a messy job, especially when we’re mixing colors. My clothes are always ruined with spots of orange or blue. But it’s okay. It’s a good life and we get to be a part of the city’s festivals in our own way. It’s nice to see a finished piece heading off to someone's home after we've spent so many days working on it.
