Nishad Pan Bhandar

Our place is in Kandivali West, and it is a pretty straightforward setup. As a pan bhandar, we are usually the busiest when the sun goes down and everyone has finished their dinner for the night. Kandivali is a place that stays awake for a while, so we are often here late into the night. It is a small shop, mostly just a counter where we have all our jars and leaves laid out ready for use. We have been here long enough that we do not really need to look at what we are doing anymore; our hands just move on their own. It is a social spot more than anything else. People stop by to chat about the local news or just to kill a few minutes before heading home. We see a lot of the same people every single night. The lights from the surrounding shops keep the area bright, and there is usually some music playing from a passing car or a nearby stall. It is not a fancy business, just a regular part of the neighborhood fabric. We deal with the usual stuff like the heat, the heavy rain, and the big crowds during the festival seasons. We do not have any big slogans or goals. We just want to make sure everyone gets their pan exactly how they like it before they go on their way. It is a humble job.
