We’ve been here at Satpal Singh Chawl on Gaondevi Road for quite some time now. Bhandup West is always a bit busy, but our spot is easy enough to find if you know the area. Most people just walk in when their glasses break or if they need a new pair of contact lenses because the old ones are bothering them. It’s not a fancy place, just a regular shop where we try to get things done right. I spend most of my day looking at frames and talking to the neighbors who stop by. Sometimes the traffic outside is loud, but inside we just focus on the eyes. We see a lot of the same faces from around the chawl and the nearby streets. It’s a simple setup really. I usually have a tea while waiting for the next person to come in with a prescription. We don't do anything too complicated, just the usual testing and fitting. If you're coming from the station, it takes a bit of a walk but most people don't mind. Mumbai life is fast, so we try not to keep anyone waiting longer than they have to. The shop has its quirks, like the door that sticks a bit in the monsoon, but it works for us. We've got a decent selection of frames tucked away in the cabinets. It is just me and a couple of others keeping the place running day to day.
