Moti Marbles

Moti Marbles is over in Bhagat Singh Nagar No 2, right off the Link R in Goregaon West. We are situated on Chandlodia Road, which is quite close to Vibgyor School. If you come by the yard, you will see us working with large pieces of marble and stone. It is a very physical job. There is always a layer of stone dust on everything, including our clothes and the old table we use for our tea breaks. We have slabs leaning against every available wall. Some are plain and others have a lot of patterns in them. The sound of the stone cutter is something you get used to after a few days. It’s not a place for fancy clothes because you are going to get dirty. We don't have a polished showroom; our inventory is just sitting out there in the open or under a basic shed. The sun can be quite brutal in the middle of the day, reflecting off the white marble, so we try to do the heaviest lifting in the morning. We’ve been in Goregaon for a long time now and have seen the school and the other buildings come up around us. It’s just a yard where we do the hard work of handling stone. Sometimes the trucks struggle to get into the narrow road, which causes a bit of a stir with the neighbors. We just do our best to get the slabs moved and the orders filled for our customers. It is dusty and loud, but it is our daily labor.
